Well, you and I can both relive these memories this week! This Thursday the 23rd through Sunday the 26th you can attend the Arts Festival.
For all you Arts Festival newbies, let me tell you what you can expect. There are live lectures, seminars, stand up comedy, and awesome live performances. One of the bands include Van Lady Love, a band you should see now, because they are only getting more popular!
Painting rocks is an activity of the past... But don't be sad because there are even cooler workshops for kids! On Thursday at 3:30pm there is a workshop for kids that includes making pop up books! I'll admit, that's even cooler than painting rocks. There will also be interesting workshops like Food Writing.. Hey, two of my favorite things! Check out Thursdays full schedule here.
On Friday not only can you get a discount if you come from noon to 3pm, but you can experience a magic show, the Utah Symphony Orchestra, and watch some Aerial arts. We're probably most excited about the aerial arts, but the Comic Book Workshop going on sounds pretty dang amazing. You can also check out the Utah Short Film Competition in the evening. View Friday's full schedule here.
Now Saturday is nothing short of spectacular. Watch more aerial arts in awe, and laugh your pants off while enjoying Wise Guys Stand Up Comedy. There will be even more comic book making, more films, and a songwriting competition. View Saturday's full schedule here.
Sunday is finishing strong. You can hear from Folk Holgan, enjoy indie slam poetry, and most excitingly.....SLAPercussion! What's that? Watch in wonder and excitement below...
There will be more writing activities and challenges, and if you stick around until 8pm you should definitely check out a film being shown on Imagination and Delusion. Sounds cool to us! View Sunday's full schedule here.
Now, now, you must be wondering about the food. Of course there will be delicious vendors! Enjoy food from Dolcetti Gelato (remember, we wrote about them here!), Kotako food truck, Kabob Shack, The Pie Pizzeria, and more! Alcohol will be available to those with identification, over the age of 21.
Oh, and there's a peanut butter and jelly booth in the art yard. I may be too old to paint rocks, but this sounds amazing...
Now the best part about the Utah Arts Festival is that it has been around for 40 years. You may be wondering why that's important. Well, not only does it prove the festivals success, but they are celebrating by offering free admission on Thursday the 23rd! If you can't make it Thursday, you can pre-purchase a ticket on their site for only $8! Regular adult prices are $12. There's also a lunch time discount on Friday from noon to 3pm. Only $6 for tickets!
Show up anywhere from noon to 11pm to enjoy the festival. It's held on Library and Washington Squares, at 200 East 400 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111. More directions here.
Get your art on!
